The Phoenician Religion
The gods and goddesses were borrowed from a number of different religions. The names and legends of the borrowed gods went through little change during the process of being borrowed. The protector of the universe was El, or Baal. The names of gods sometimes varied depending on what city they were being worshipped. The gods had various roles and aspects, but were easily affected by the invading civilizations, and neighbors.
